► Planned the short/long term workforce capacity and coordinated the engineering teams for smooth production and supply chain of buses with MS project to allocate, track and met project deadlines by success rate 96%.
► Designed and implemented a relational database application for around 200 users with MS Access developed with VBA programming and SQL Server to consolidate and automatize planning processes. ► Executed lean project in engineering bus design processes, increasing operational efficiency by 43%.
► Standardization of the processes with other stakeholders and subsidiaries in Poland for the controlling and managing the engineering change tasks on technical basis. For that purpose, engineering task planning process analysed and pro-actively integrated in the technical department of Ankara.

2023 | Report Monster Excel Tool as Automated Reporting

Organization: MAN Truck & Bus SE

Type of Project: Automatic Reporting – ETL & Programming

This excel tool makes automatic reporting in a list format based on users’ need in a standard, clean and proper form. But the most importantly it retrieves accurate data after some ETL process. In Background power query is used and utilized from excel VBA programming to establish conditions, design and some other necessary stuff for accuracy of report before generating results for end users. Current time gain which were obtained by Report Monster were calculated in a confirmed way with department managers as 162 hours/monthly.

Type of Project: Automatic and Dynamic Data Visualization – KPI Dashboard

This dashboard saves many hours effort which is caused by manual data cleaning and graphic preparation in Excel. Users are able to choose any criteria based on their needs such as production location of bus, type of bus, department and etc. Also time criteria is based on month or week depend on needs of my end users.

Entire data behind dashboard is updated with VBA + Power Query + Advanced Excel formulas. In order to optimize and update the data behind whole ETL (Extract, transform, load) process was planned by myself through first 2 months of project. Afterwards I keep it updated and optimize based on my team mate’s requirements.

2022 | D.O.R.MAN Application (Digital Optimal Reporting MAN Application)

I was awarded getting first place in the digital production category of MAN Truck & Bus in Ankara. I have started with my own initiative for a target to provide an enterprise level database application for my collegues at MAN Turkey. From requirement engineering as well as logical database desing until coding (VBA) and testing were fulfilled by me. Around 200 users are supported at MAN Turkey and Poland with DORMAN app. to consolidate engineering control processes and automatizing the reports. It was honourful to get this value at the end of great effort I put. I was happy because of both many technical skills I learned and the feeling MAN led me have.

Technical details:

In my departments around 50 collegues are responsible for electrical construction design work of MAN’s customized bus production. My main task was planning and coordinating the design team with hard focus on termin and task allocation and maintaning the systems for the process. As I am already involved in the company’s processes, analyzing the requirements was not that hard to me.

Challenges:

Convincing people who got use of existing systems and method is always a challenge and it was the same in my project as well. Showing them long term benefits and strong part of your project will get them convinced. That was my strategy. What they were going to obtain with my application:

● Data consistency because of relational database logic
● Data accuracy
● Simplicity in creating reports

Another big one was of course with IT department as they are not always prone to support internal collegues for their IT_related project. What I need was SQL Server support from IT. I clarified my project details to IT department and took the responsbility regarding configuring, creating database and establishing my back-end.

In 2022 I still defend the argument that MS Access with SQL Server will work smoothly for even high number of users for internal processes of companies with zero cost, if you know how to design a accurate database, how to optimize your queries and if you know how to utilize from the power of VBA programming good enough. Just plan, analyze, develop, train and maintain.




2021 | Lean project to improve the efficiency for customized/serial construction processes of bus production

This project was conducted by a team. My individual part covered below:

● created dynamic capacity dashboards for electric and mechanic teams in MAN Ankara. Consolidating them enabled everybody to track and give capacity-related decisions much better as well as quickly.
● developed an MS excel application which pulls and refreshes the relevant data from different sources to track customization contruction tasks for task planners.

Tehnical Details:

● Used past 1 year data to assign process time for each process steps
● Calculated process cycle times and determined actions to improve
● Digitalization improvement in some aspects of the design process

2017 | Master thesis with full-time Internship

Last semester of my master education was offering me an optional internship. I have applied and got offer from SGRE after couple of interviews. I moved to Denmark and started a life in a small village, Brande from scratch. That was the first challenge for me. But in a week I succeeded to manage everything. It was a full time job at SGRE and there were many things to learn about sector, company and processes. However I was ready mentally to get into challenging period. Although writing thesis after my internship in Denmark was also an option for me, after a month at SGRE I analyzed and understood the proceeses related to my tasks and though that I can wrrite my thesis as well. My thesis aimed at developing a platform to create RFQ packages in procurement much more effectively in a shorter time. When I came back to Berlin, I presented and defended my thesis. I got point “1.7” which is “good” from HTW Berlin.

Tehnical Details

My thesis covers four main parts under the procurement

Here is an abstract of my master thesis. I am unfortunately not allowed to share complete thesis as confidential informations about SGRE is also included.

This paper proposes the master thesis topic which is titled as “Effects of Database Management Systems on Procurement Efficiency”. This topic analyzes and focuses on the database management systems in terms of their usage for the procurement processes and how they affect the procurement process. It is mainly aimed to search relevancy between database management systems and procurement efficiency proposing a solution with new database system design for the RFQ (Request For Quotation) process. RFQ process is analyzed by revealing each distinct input and output on the process chart to realize the existing steps and requirements to establish a new database design. Thesis starts with the literature survey and theoretical background of two major topics: “Procurement Process Management” and “Database Management Systems”. Afterwards, it continues with “AS-IS” and “TO-BE” analysis of Siemens Gamesa with respect to its procurement process cycle and efficiency. Based on analysis chapter, study focuses on how this database management systems which include ERP and others (company-specific) are used in the procurement processes. Procurement efficiency criteria used in procurement environment were considered and clarified through the support of literature in order to make an efficiency comparison between “AS-IS” and “TO-BE” models. At the same time, necessity of other database management systems except for common ERP systems are discussed considering the reasons of looking for new database implementation purposes involve the internal database developments. Their pros and cons are discussed. For that purpose, inputs and data collections from Siemens Gamesa organization were used to support the aim and scope of the thesis.

That was my second experience. According to my own opinion, every industrial engineer should experience production area and see how inventories are planned with running MRP system. This topics is the backbone for every industrial engineer when they just graduated. I was such an engineer focus on more business information systems afterwards but getting process knowledge and having experience in material planning, warehouse management and production planning were going to light the way in my next steps. I have strictly worked in warehouse and collaborated with supervisors. I have created company specific invertory level determination algorithms for each type of material in the warehouse. Those algorithms were the initial phase of optimization which they will be able to apply in ERP system of the company or in a parallel system. After first application of the algorithms in warehouse following stock levels below decreased considerably.
